Important details that the reader often misses. The cover and illustrations are not just decorative pieces, but important semantic pieces. For example, the cover of our novel "The Restless" by Lisa Ko was very much liked by the writer herself, who saw in it a reflection of what she wanted to say in the novel kitabnagri.pk.

Determine the structure
The structure of a novel can be different: it can be consistent and tell the story chronologically correctly. Sometimes we can recognize the denouement at the very beginning, and then the background is described to us. It happens that the chapters jump chaotically: from the past to the future, and on the way they turn somewhere else. For example, in the novel "The Story of the Bees" by Maya Lunde, each chapter takes us to a certain historical era, thereby showing how events from the past affect our future. And in the book "Dear Edward" the narrative takes place in two times: before the plane crash and after it. And this is also a trick.

Explore the context
Novels are published for a reason: sometimes it is influenced by historical events, sometimes - by the social agenda, sometimes - by changes in the cultural worldview. Therefore, it is important to consider the release of each book in context: this makes it clearer why, for example, there are more books written by women or the popularity of novels for teenagers.

How to criticize correctly: 5 important questions
You read the book, analyzed it and understood: no, something is not right. How to be? Try to imagine yourself as a critic. Unfortunately - or fortunately - there are no clearly established and agreed rules for literary criticism in the world. There are only approximate schemes that can be easily modified. Therefore, in order to form a critical opinion of fiction, it is better to ask yourself a few questions.

What feelings does the book evoke?

How complete is it: is there a feeling of completeness or are there any questions for the author?

How complex is the structure?

Does the story have artistic realism?
Is the book creating a new world that attracts you and in which you see life in its entirety?
The better you can understand the reasons for your own pleasure or displeasure from reading literature, the closer you will come to understanding the artistic value of a literary work. Gradually, you will learn to criticize any text at a high level.

And you will understand that anyone who has learned to read can cultivate good literary taste.
